SPECIAL EVENTS

"Battleship Potemkin" Film and Live Piano

THURSDAY, 4/18, at the Main Akron Library
7 PM - 9 PM (FREE)

The Nightlight and Akron Summit County Public Library present pianist Chris Jarrett performing live piano alongside the silent film Battleship Potemkin.

Chris Jarrett has composed a piano score to Sergei Eisenstein's famous silent movie, "Battleship Potemkin." This film—often considered one of the most ingenious productions in film history—is about the people's rebellion in the Russian Revolution of 1905. Jarrett's partially improvised and partially composed score underlines Sergei Eisenstein's anti-militaristic message.

The Most Remote Restaurant in the World with composer Silas Hite

SUNDAY, 4/28

Join us for a special screening of THE MOST REMOTE RESTAURANT IN THE WORLD, followed by an in-person Q+A with composer Silas Hite

Follow the extraordinary journey of chefs from Michelin-starred restaurant KOKS as they embark on a mission to create an exclusive dining experience in the picturesque and isolated village of Ilimanaq, Greenland.

Silas Hite is an Emmy-winning composer with music in his DNA. He began his career co-scoring TV shows and films such as Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs with his uncles, noted composers Mark & Bob Mothersbaugh of the band Devo.

His music is featured in television shows around the world, from kids' shows like Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get A Clue! and Disney’s Dance-A-Lot Robot to adult shows such as The Big Brunch (HBO Max), Abused by the Police (BBC), and Chef's Table (Netflix).

SECOND SCREEN EXPANSION

Two Screens. Twice the Impact.

In December 2023, your incredible support pushed our Second Screen Kickstarter beyond expectations: together, we reached 130% of our goal.

Thank you for playing such an important role in helping bring our Second Screen dream to life — and for sharing with us not just the passion for cinema, but the belief that an indie arthouse theater in Akron is worth building upon.

Stay tuned for next steps!

In the meantime, click below to learn more about how you can stay involved in shaping the future of The Nightlight, Akron's only nonprofit arthouse theater.
